Diversity in the Coca Cola Super Bowl Ad

As we all know, diversity has been a big problem, but it is getting better over the years as many people and companies are finding solutions to the "problems." Currently, a lot of people are throwing a fit over the recent Coca Cola commercial that aired during the super bowl. The commercial is of a couple skating with their daughter and other young people that are singing the song "America the Beautiful." The big fuss about the ad is currently that the couple skating with their daughter was a gay couple and three of the young people that were in the ad were Muslims who were wearing their traditional head coverings. I see absolutely no problem with this ad because it shows how diverse the United States is and Coca Cola is not a company that is discriminating amongst certain racial groups, sexual groups, etc. The song is sung in six different languages during the commercial. I believe that if people worried less about how others choose to live their lives, the world would be a much happier place within certain situations. Now, I would not agree with someone choosing to live their life as a murderer or rapist, etc.

  1. As far as we've come with racism and stereotyping, unfortunately we still have a long way to go as a people. These things are passed down from generation to generation, and then are propagated through the media. It starts with us, the parents/future parents of the upcoming generations to raise our children to eliminate these unneeded prejudices.
